Memorial Lutheran Church
Jesus called the church to be salt and light to the world.
Outreach ministries help the church continually
reach beyond its own walls to touch the world around it.

At Memorial our goal is to reach
 into our community
sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ through a variety
 of events and activities.

Serving In Our Community:

For the past couple of months, members from Memorial have been making meals, and serving them to a congregation that meets in the Sioux Falls Ministry Center, located in downtown Sioux Falls.  This young congregation, led by Joe Marrowbone, is called River of Life.  The members are made up of mostly Native American, but not entirely.  A number of the members have worshipped together for 15 years under different pastors and different names.  The members of River of Life enjoy the meals and the fellowship when Memorial serves.  The young members love to help us serve the food.  This opportunity has been a blessing to many!  For more information on The River of Life and serving this congregation, please contact Sheree Soles Director of Ministry Involvement -Memorial Lutheran Church - "Connecting People to Jesus Through Service" - 605-334-7133.

The Walsh Village services families that have adults receiving treatment at Avera. The family must live 30 miles away from SF to be able to stay there. The families can stay at the Village for a small fee - in addition to staying there different organizations  provide meals for the families.  You can choose to make the meal at the Walsh Place or you can bring a meal to them already prepared. There are usually 12-15 people that stay there for 1 night - 3 months. A  home cooked meal is much  appreciated instead of eating in the cafeteria at Avera. The Walsh Village is always in need of supplies to stock their kitchen. It can be anything from canned soups, snacks, to cleaning supplies. Several members of Memorial have begun taking meals periodically to Walsh Village. If you are interested in joining in this outreach activity, contact the church office at 334-7155.

The Helpline Center is excited to announce that Volunteer Sioux Falls is on the grow!

Volunteer Sioux Falls has grown from a single day of service to three community-wide service events annually. The Helpline Center will lead these events, encouraging individuals, families, churches, civic groups and companies to get involved in a community-wide project each February, April and August. What will we do? The sky is the limit! Together, we may build playgrounds, refurbish schools, build community gardens and much, much more!

Military chaplains and the troops to whom they provide spiritual care explain how the
LCMS and her congregations are uniquely poised to show Christ's mercy to these heroes
in our midst, active duty and veterans.  Watch "Those Who Serve."

Sunday Morning Greeters -
Sunday Greeters are often the first contact our many visitors have with Memorial. Our greeter team is designed to assist those new to our facility, as well as regular worshipers, and to help them feel welcomed. Our 8 am greeters meet those coming in the front door with a warm smile and handshake. Our 9:20 am & 10:45 am greeters are located all around the building sharing a warm "Hello!" with those they know and do not know, watching especially for people needing assistance and new to our facility. We are continually looking for people to join our greeter teams. If you enjoy visiting with people and meeting new friends, this ministry might be for you. Contact the church office at 334-7133 for more information.
